February 18th marks the start of Student Councils “Caught Being Kind” campaign. Students buy fish if someone did something kind for them. They fill out the name of that person on the fish and they write what that person did for them. Since we recognize students for their SOARRing behavior, we thought it would be nice if the students start recognizing each other for SOARRing behavior.

The fish cost $1 and they receive the fish and a heart eraser. All the money raised will be going to the American Heart Association. The campaign will run from February 18 to February 28th

Hillcrest students register today for our Coding for a Cause Hackathon on Saturday, March 23rd from 8:30-3:30.  No prior coding experience required!  Register now at: https://goo.gl/FyyvVz

Durham Student Bus Tracker App

A new feature that is available to our parent community this year is a web-based OPS student tracking app, Durham Student Bus Tracker. This app provides parents the ability to view their child(ren)'s current bus location, including scheduled and estimated arrival times to your stop. We are pleased to announce that the app has been activated and is now ready for use. Instructions for downloading the app can be obtained by clicking this link. Your child's student identification number can be obtained by logging into Parent Portal and looking next to your child's photo.

If you have any questions regarding the app, please contact Durham's technical support.

Box Tops for Education

The Box Tops for Education are collected, organized and submitted by Ms. Fitzpatrick’s class as part of the Academics for Life program. The funds received from Box Tops go towards providing real-world opportunities for students with disabilities, including field trips and vocational experiences, as well as Hillcrest’s Best Buddies Program.
